About the Artist
I aim to share my tender, curious heart with the world. I enjoy capturing impressions of everyday, overlooked moments or scenes. At times my work has a quality of quiet observation, yet a thread of humor often pokes through. I loves to tell stories - in illustration, comics or writing - much of which has an autobiographical slant. Sometimes I feel sad on a beautiful day. Sometimes am too silly for my own good.
Vibrant color is my true love, and I employ a variety of mediums, including acrylic gouache, color pencil, brush pen markers and digital techniques.
I used to travel a lot. I am a fan of pigeons, architecture, little treats and I am still (forever?) figuring out how to write about myself as an artist. If you meet me in real life and ask me for my “elevator pitch” you will probably get an extremely awkward, bizarre answer.
Olympia, Washington is my home, where I live with my husband and toddler. Since becoming a mother, my art career and business has blown far off-course. Where I used to have a daily practice, it now feels like a miracle if I have 5 minutes to paint at all or post something on Instagram. I’m just trying to hang on and not feel like too much of a stranger to myself (if you relate to this, please reach out! I need artist mom friends. Also, I greatly enjoyed this book.)
